Stay Visible on the Road
Why do I need bike lights? Well, fittingStay Visible on the Road
Why do I need bike lights? Well, fitting bike lights is a pretty good way of enhancing your visibility on the road when out at night. Without hi-vis gear and front and rear lighting cyclists can be at increased risk of being involved in a traffic accident during night time hours. By purchasing a set of bike lights you can lower this risk and keep safe on the road.
There are many different types of products to choose from. It is important that you understand which bike lights are going to be the most beneficial for you. From the batteries used to the strength of the light emitted, these are all factors that can help with your decision.
Nowadays, USB rechargeable bike lights corner the market, pushing out standard disposable batteries. Using rechargeable batteries means that you don't have to search around for tiny watch type batteries when it's time to replace them.
As well as battery type, you should consider the lumen number of your bike lights. Lumen is the measure of the amount of light emitted from a source. It is advisable to get a front bike light with a lumen amount of 500-700. However, for the backlight, industry guidelines mean that rear lights are often less powerful and emit 50-100 lumens.
At Oz Backcountry, we sell a variety of bicycle lights and fittings. From bike light sets to individual handlebar lights and rear lights, mix and match for your perfect combination. In addition, we stock brackets and fittings to attach lights to your bike. To be extra safe, we also sell head torches and helmet mounts to increase your visibility during your nighttime biking adventures.
