Description
The Lezyne Micro Drive 800+ / Strip Drive 300+ is a matched front and rear light set: an eight-LED, 800-lumen Micro Drive 800+ up front in a CNC-machined aluminium body with cooling fins, and a ten-LED, 300-lumen Strip Drive 300+ at the back. Both charge through a sealed USB-C port and both are IPX7 rated.
Who it's for
Riders who commute in the dark, train before sunrise, or get caught out on an evening ride that ran long. At 800 lumens the front throws enough light for unlit bike paths and back roads as well as being seen in traffic, and the rear's daytime flash modes make you stand out on a bright morning on the Gold Coast Highway or a grey winter afternoon in Melbourne.
Brightness and runtime together
Micro Drive 800+ front (six modes):
- Blast: 800 lumens, 2 h
- Day Flash: 700 lumens, 30 h
- Enduro: 400 lumens, 3 h
- Economy: 100 lumens, 10 h
- Pulse: 100 lumens, 10 h
- Femto: 20 lumens, 35 h
Strip Drive 300+ rear (seven modes):
- Day Flash 2: 300 lumens, 17 h
- Day Flash 1: 150 lumens, 24 h
- Blast: 60 lumens, 5 h 30 min
- Pulse: 60 lumens, 12 h
- Flash 1: 40 lumens, 32 h
- Economy: 15 lumens, 18 h
- Femto: 5 lumens, 80 h
For a commute on dark streets, Enduro at 400 lumens up front with a flashing rear is a good working pair. Race Mode on the front locks the light to just Blast and Economy: hold the button for five seconds with the light off, and a single click then swaps between full power and 100 lumens without cycling through the flash modes.
Beam shape
The Micro Drive 800+ pairs its eight LEDs with Lezyne's refreshed optical design, there to light the path ahead as well as make you obvious to oncoming traffic. At the back, the Strip Drive 300+ uses Wide-Angle Optics to show its ten LEDs through 270 degrees, so you are visible from the side at roundabouts and driveways as well as from behind.
Charging and battery
The front carries a 1900 mAh battery and the rear a 1400 mAh battery, both charging over USB-C behind a protective cover. The front is full after 4 to 8 hours, or 2.5 to 6 hours from a port that supports High Efficiency charging. A battery indicator in the button shows the charge level, and the front remembers the mode it was switched off in. Bring your own USB-C cable, as none is included. Lezyne's Infinite Light Power Pack+ plugs into the front to extend Economy, Day Flash and Femto on long nights; the original Infinite Light Power Pack does not fit.
Mounting
Both lights use stretch-strap mounts that go on by hand. The rear's strap fits round and aero seatposts, and the front can also take an optional GoPro-style mount, sold separately.
Weather resistance
Both lights are rated IPX7. Keep the USB-C cover pushed fully home after charging so the port stays sealed, and the set is ready for a wet run home through a summer storm.
