The Lezyne Strip Pro Ai Alert 400+ Rear is a tall, bright tail light for the back of your seat post that does one thing no ordinary tail light can: it notices when you slow down and tells the traffic behind you. Ten LEDs sit behind a wide lens, the body is co-molded and sealed to IPX7, and a 1900 mAh battery charges by USB-C.
Who it's for
Road riders, commuters and bunch riders who share the road with cars, and anyone who wants a daytime flash strong enough to be picked out in full Queensland sun. If your ride is a pre-dawn loop along the Gold Coast Highway, a Brisbane commute home in the dusk, or a Sunday bunch where the rider behind needs to know you are braking, this is the light for the back of your bike.
Brightness and runtime together
The Strip Pro gives you seven modes, and each one trades brightness for hours:
- Day Flash 2: 400 lumens for 18 hours, the one for daylight riding on busy roads
- Day Flash 1: 200 lumens for 30 hours
- Blast: 80 lumens solid for 5 hours 30 minutes
- Pulse: 80 lumens for 14 hours
- Flash 1: 50 lumens for 21 hours
- Economy: 15 lumens solid for 26 hours
- Femto: 5 lumens for 80 hours, for a long night on the bike path or a light that simply refuses to go flat
Whichever mode you pick, Ai Alert watches for deceleration. When you brake, the light jumps to Active Alert, a rapid 150 lumen flash that tells the driver behind you are slowing. The Ai Alert system comes pre-programmed and collects no rider data, so there is no app to pair and nothing to set up.
Beam shape
A tail light is about being seen from every angle a driver might come at you. Wide Angle Optics spread the output across 270 degrees, so the Strip Pro shows from behind and well round to each side, which is what counts at a roundabout or when a car pulls out of a side street.
Charging and battery
The 1900 mAh battery is built in and charges through a waterproof USB-C port, so it tops up from the same cable as your phone. The cable is not included.
Mounting
A silicone rubber strap wraps round aero and round seat posts alike, so the same light moves between your road bike and your commuter. The body measures 70 x 37 x 47 mm and weighs 71 g.
Weather resistance
The Strip Pro is tested to IPX7. Summer storms, road spray and a hose-down after a wet ride are all things it is built to shrug off.
