Description
The Lezyne LED Stick Drive Seat Clamp swaps your frame's seat post clamp for one with a slim rear light built in. The clamp does the clamping, the Stick Drive light sits on the back of it facing the traffic behind you, and the seatpost itself stays completely clear.
Who it's for
Mountain bikers and gravel riders on dropper posts, where a strap-on light gets in the way of the post's travel, and anyone who wants a rear light that is always on the bike without a strap around the seatpost. It suits the ride home through the forest after a twilight lap at Nerang, or the last stretch of road back to the car park once the sun has gone.
Brightness and runtime together
- Day Flash: 30 lumens, 5 h 30 min
- Blast: 30 lumens, 1 h 30 min
- Enduro: 12 lumens, 3 h 30 min
- Flash 2: 12 lumens, 6 h 30 min
- Flash 3: 12 lumens, 23 h
- Flash 1: 4 lumens, 16 h 40 min
- Femto: 4 lumens, 9 h 30 min
Day Flash is the one for daylight riding near traffic, and Flash 3 is the long-haul setting when you want the light flashing all day on a big ride and not thinking about it again.
Beam shape
The Stick Drive uses Lezyne's Wide Angle Optics, which spread the light around the sides of the lens as well as straight back, so a car approaching from a side road picks you up too.
Charging and battery
The light comes away from its clamp mount for charging, so the clamp stays bolted to the frame while the light charges over USB in about 3 hours. A red indicator comes on when the battery is down to its last few per cent, so you know to charge before the next ride. Hold the button for two seconds to switch it on or off.
Mounting
Remove your frame's existing seat post clamp and fit the Stick Drive clamp in its place, with the inner upper edge of the mount seated on the top of the seat tube. Slide the seatpost back in and tighten the clamp bolt with a Torx T25 key to 4-7 N·m. A torque key is worth using here, as carbon seatposts and frames do not forgive over-tightening.
