Sender Harness

The Mammut Sender Harness is a pared-back sport climbing harness: laser-cut fabric that breathes, split webbing that spreads the load, and four gear loops, all for 320 g in size M. It is unisex, comes in Safety Orange, and we stock XS, S and XL.

Mammut explains that the UIAA Safety Label ensures samples of the equipment have been tested by an accredited, independent third party and shown to meet the UIAA's standards. Mammut classifies the Sender as personal protective equipment: the instructions in the user manual must be read before and followed during use.

What it is for

Gym and sport climbing, where Mammut gives it full marks. It has a performance-oriented fit and is extremely light, made for a long redpoint burn, whether that is at the local wall on a Tuesday or on the steep limestone at Nowra. Mammut rates it three out of six for multipitch, ice and alpine climbing.

Weight

320 g in size M. The laser-cut fabric makes it highly breathable and robust, a help on a humid summer session in the Gold Coast hinterland.

Sizing

Measure your waist where the harness sits, then the top of your thigh. We stock three sizes:

• XS: waist 61–71 cm, leg 48–51 cm
• S: waist 67–77 cm, leg 49–55 cm
• XL: waist 86–100 cm, leg 61–67 cm

Handling

It has two large pre-shaped gear loops for easy attachment and two lightweight gear loops. There are four ice clipper slots, a chalk bag attachment, and an easy-to-move, hot-forged aluminium buckle. A carry bag is included.

Inspection

The tie-in loop has an indicator that shows when the harness needs to be replaced, and is protected by high-quality plastic against abrasive wear to extend its service life. Check the indicator, the webbing and the buckle before every session.
