Frontier Ultralight Collapsible Dinnerware Set
Description
Description
The Sea to Summit Frontier Ultralight Collapsible Dinnerware Set is three pieces of camp tableware that fold flat: a large bowl, a medium bowl and a cup. Pop them open for dinner, push them down afterwards, and the whole set stacks into a single disc 2.5 cm thick that slides down the side of a pack.
Who it's for
The walker or paddler who wants to eat out of a proper bowl and still keep the pack small. One person gets a large bowl for dinner, a medium bowl for porridge or a side, and a cup for the brew, which covers a full day of meals on the Australian Alps Walking Track or a canoe trip down the Murray. Pair it with a pot and you have the whole kitchen. We stock it because it makes the eating end of camp cooking as compact as the cooking end.
Materials and heat
The sidewalls are EU food-grade silicone, which folds down concertina style. The base and rim of each piece are nylon 66 reinforced with 30% glass, so the bowl holds its shape full of hot food and the rim gives you something firm to grip. The curve where each bowl's wall meets its base is shaped to a Sea to Summit spoon, so nothing gets stranded in the corner.
The cup carries a second nylon ring around its middle as well as the rim. That ring keeps the cup's shape, gives your fingers a hold and keeps them off the hottest part of the wall.
These pieces are made for collapsing over and over: Sea to Summit tests the bowls on a rig that folds and opens each one 5,000 times. Everything is free of BPA, PFOA and PTFE. Keep the set out of the microwave.
Packing and nesting
Each piece collapses to under 2 cm, and the three nest one inside the next. Packed, the set measures 17.8 x 17.8 x 2.5 cm and weighs 197.2 g. It also nests inside the Frontier 2L Pouring Pot, so a pot and three pieces of tableware take up the space of the pot alone.
Cleaning
At home the whole set goes in the dishwasher. In camp, silicone wipes clean quickly; collapse each piece to reach into the folds, then open it out to dry before you pack it down.
