Description
Description
Gear Aid Line Tensioners are small aluminium plates that take the fiddle out of guylines, tarp lines and camp clotheslines. Thread the cord, tie a single overhand knot, and the tensioner holds the cord securely so you can pull it taut and adjust the tension quickly, with no taut-line hitch to remember when you are pitching a tarp in the rain. Each pack holds four, and the steps are printed on every tensioner.
Which size you need
Pick the size by the cord you are running.
- Small: Gear Aid's silver Guyline Tensioner, for 2 mm cord and guylines. 44 x 25 mm and 4.3 g each.
- Large: Gear Aid's black Line Tensioner, for 3 mm or 5 mm cord, and the pack is labelled for 550 paracord. 61 x 29 mm and 7.9 g each. It suits 3 mm cord such as Gear Aid Medium-Duty 325 Paracord.
Where they earn their keep
- Re-tensioning tent guylines when nylon stretches in overnight rain or dew
- Pitching a tarp over the camp kitchen and getting the ridgeline tight
- Running a clothesline between two trees to dry wet gear
- Replacing lost or broken adjusters on an older tent
How to set one up
- Thread the cord through the tensioner as shown on its face.
- Tie one overhand knot in the end of the cord to lock it in.
- Run the line to the peg or tree and pull it taut, following the printed diagram.
- Adjust the tension the same way whenever the line needs it.
Both sizes are lightweight, durable aluminium. We stock them because four of them in the tent bag fix the floppy guyline that keeps you awake on a windy night at Wilsons Promontory.
