Description
Bite valves wear out long before the bladder does. The USWE Comet 45° Bite Valve is the 10 g part that puts a leaky, chewed or grit-clogged mouthpiece back to new: pull the old valve off, push the Comet on, and you are drinking again.
What it is
A high-flow replacement bite valve with a 45 degree bend, a self-sealing silicone mouthpiece and a twist lock you can work with one hand. It is made in PP/POM and silicone and fits onto standard hydration drink tubes.
Who it's for
Anyone whose hydration pack valve has started dripping down their jersey, or who wants a spare in the kit bag before a big day. Mountain bikers, trail runners, gravel and adventure racers, and moto riders all wear through valves; on a dusty summer ride through the hinterland a fresh mouthpiece is the difference between a clean sip and a mouthful of grit.
Key details
- 45 degree angle: the mouthpiece points at you when the tube is clipped to your shoulder strap, so you drink without tugging the hose
- High flow: a big drink in a short bite, handy mid-race or on a long climb
- Self-sealing silicone: closes again after each sip
- One-handed twist lock: shut it off completely without taking your other hand off the bars
- 10 g: PP/POM body with a silicone mouthpiece
- Fit: slides onto standard drink tubes on USWE packs and most hydration systems
Looking after it
After a muddy or dusty outing, pull the Comet off the tube and rinse the silicone mouthpiece under warm water so the self-sealing slit closes cleanly. Lock it shut before the pack goes into storage.
