Cardo Packtalk Edge Single - ORV

The Cardo Packtalk Edge ORV is Cardo's mesh intercom with the magnetic Air Mount, sold here as a single unit. The ORV version ships with an off-road boom microphone for an open-face or motocross helmet, rather than the corded microphone a full-face uses. One headset, with its mount, speakers and microphone.

The Air Mount

The Edge snaps onto its helmet plate magnetically. There is no sliding it into a cradle in gloves, and no fiddling at the side of the road - you put it near the plate and it takes itself. Small thing, done every single ride.

Mesh, not pairing

2nd generation Dynamic Mesh Communication for up to 31 riders. The group forms itself, and a rider who drops out of range is picked back up automatically rather than needing to re-pair.

Sound and charging

JBL speakers with three tuned sound profiles. Twenty minutes on the charger gives two hours of talk time, which covers the case where you have forgotten to charge it and are leaving in half an hour.

Built to be left on the helmet

IP67 waterproof and a three-year warranty. Bluetooth 5.2 for the phone side, and over-the-air updates so the unit improves without a cable.

Fitting it to your helmet

The Air Mount is a magnetic plate that fits any helmet - you install it yourself at home, no tools beyond what is in the box and no helmet modification. The unit then snaps to the plate. Cardo's own accessories for the Edge and Pro use this mount; the Neo's clickable cradle is a different part and the two do not interchange.

Talking to other units and other brands

Cardo to Cardo, modern Dynamic Mesh units find each other and join the same mesh. Older Cardo Bluetooth units connect by standard pairing instead, and G and Q units need to be put into phone-pairing mode first. Other brands - Sena, Midland and the rest - connect too, but over universal Bluetooth: that rider is held as a one-to-one link, much like a phone connection, rather than joining the mesh. A mixed group works, it just does not self-heal the way an all-Cardo group does.

It works where your phone does not

The intercom needs no cellular coverage and no data. It is a direct radio link between units, so it keeps working in the places that matter - a valley, a range, anywhere the phone has dropped out.
