Description
Description
The Sea to Summit Head Net is a lightweight mosquito head net made from soft black polyester mesh with 80 holes per cm². It is wide enough to wear over a hat, closes at the neck with an elasticised drawcord and packs into a small stuff sack for walks, paddling and camp in mosquito country.
What it is
A fine mesh bag that drops over your head and hat and cinches at your neck, so you can read a map or set up the tent at dusk with mesh between you and the mosquitoes.
Who it's for
Anyone heading into mozzie country: a summer evening at a Kakadu campground, a paddle through the mangroves of Hinchinbrook, a fishing trip up a tropical river or a walk through the coastal wetlands at dusk. It packs into a small stuff sack and lives at the bottom of the pack until the moment the mosquitoes come out.
The mesh is made for mosquitoes and most other flying bugs, with a mesh Sea to Summit designs for airflow in warmer climates. For sandflies and midges, pick a net with a finer no-see-um mesh.
Key details
- Black mesh: you see out through black netting more clearly than through white
- Hexagonal weave with 80 holes per cm² for airflow in warm weather
- Soft multifilament polyester that feels gentle against your face
- Elasticised neck drawcord, long enough to tuck into a collar
- Roomy enough to wear over a hat, or on its own
- No stiffener ring, so it packs into its small nylon stuff sack
Wear it over a hat and it gives plenty of space between the mesh and your skin.
How it compares
The Sea to Summit Head Net [Permethrin] uses the same 80 holes per cm² mesh and neck drawcord, with the netting treated with permethrin for an added layer of mosquito protection. This standard net is untreated, and its polyester mesh, drawcord and barrel lock will not be damaged if you choose to treat it with a permethrin spray yourself.
