Description
The Deuter Shortrail II carries water and the small essentials on your hips instead of your back, so you run light and cool on short and mid-length trail runs.
Who it's for
Trail runners heading out for an hour or two: a lap of the Currumbin Valley trails, an early run up Mount Coot-tha, or a summer loop through the You Yangs. Deuter rate it five out of five for trail running and three for hiking, so it works for a quick walk where you do not want a pack.
Capacity and fit
The belt holds 1 litre of gear in its pockets: a phone, keys, a couple of gels or an energy bar, plus your bottle in the holster at the back. The belt measures 53 cm along its body, and the waist strap trims to fit so there is no loose tail flapping as you run.
Drinking and refilling
The bottle holster is reinforced so it keeps its shape, and a bungee cord pulls tight over the bottle to stop it bouncing out on descents. Reach back, pop the bungee and pull the bottle without stopping, then slide it back in. Refilling is as easy as filling your bottle at the tap.
Looking after it
The body is 700D recycled polyamide minirip with a finish made without intentionally added PFAS, and the belt is bluepass and Green Button certified. Reflective details help on road sections at dawn or dusk. Deuter cover it with a 2-year warranty.
