Road One

The Deuter Road One is the pack for road rides that outgrow your jersey pockets. Slim, light and close-fitting, it carries a rain shell, first aid kit, keys and water, and lets you get on with pedalling.

Who it's for

Road and gravel riders on long days. Deuter rate it five out of five for road and gravel riding. Think a big loop out to Mount Tamborine and back, the Gold Coast hinterland gravel, or an all-day audax where the weather might turn. The 1-3 kg recommended load keeps it light.

Capacity, and what actually fits

5 litres takes a packable rain jacket, a small first aid kit, a spare tube, food and your phone and wallet in the inside valuables pocket. The elasticated inner compartment holds a hydration bladder of up to 2 L. The pack measures 43 x 22 x 11 cm.

How it carries

Deuter's Contact back uses soft stripe pads that hug your back and keep the load close to your centre of gravity, with a channel between them that draws air up like a chimney. Breathable shoulder straps and a two-way sternum strap hold it close, and the streamlined shape cuts through the wind. There is no waist belt, so your jersey pockets stay easy to reach.

Fitting it

One size covers back lengths of 38-54 cm, which Deuter match to riders about 158-195 cm tall. Set the shoulder straps so the pack sits high between your shoulder blades, then clip the sternum strap.

Looking after it

The Road One is made from 100D polyamide ripstop with a honeycomb weave and a PU coating inside, and a finish made without intentionally added PFAS. Deuter back it with a 2-year warranty.
