Freecline 15

The Deuter Freecline 15 is a slim snow pack for the days you ride the lifts and duck out to the side-country. It carries your shovel where you can reach it fast, holds your board or skis for the bootpack, and stays tight against your back through bumps and powder.

Who it's for

Skiers and snowboarders riding the lifts at Thredbo, Perisher or Hotham with a quick hike for a better line, or riding Niseko's side gates on a Japan trip. Deuter rate it five out of five for freeriding. The 3-6 kg recommended load covers avalanche tools, a spare layer, water and snacks.

Capacity, and what actually fits

15 litres in a 48 x 28 x 16 cm pack takes a shovel and probe in the safety compartment, a puffer or spare gloves, food and a 2 L hydration bladder. Goggles go in their own fleece-lined pocket inside the main compartment.

How it carries

Deuter's Alpine back keeps the pack close to your centre of gravity, so it moves with you through turns and landings instead of swinging. Ventilation channels in the back padding sit under breathable mesh. Padded shoulder straps, wrap-around hip fins and a two-way sternum strap with a one-handed buckle hold it steady.

Fitting it

One size for back lengths of 38-54 cm, matched to riders around 158-195 cm tall. Fit it over your jacket, snug the hip fins, then tighten the shoulder straps until the pack sits flat on your back.

Access and organisation

A zipped arch opens the main compartment, and the reinforced safety compartment keeps the shovel blade and handle separate so you can get to them in seconds.

Looking after it

The body is 600D recycled polyester with 210D recycled polyamide, made without intentionally added PFAS, and the pack is bluepass and Green Button certified. Let it dry open after a wet day so the goggle pocket and safety compartment do not stay damp.
