Duffel 35

The Deuter Duffel 35 is a light, carry-on sized duffel in recycled polyester and polyamide that you can grab by the handles or wear on your back. It is the bag for a long weekend away, a gym and work day, or a short-haul flight with cabin baggage only.

Who it's for

Travellers first: Deuter rate it five out of five for travelling and four for school or uni. It suits a three-day trip to Byron, a weekend at the snow as the bag for your layers, or a flight to Hobart where you want everything in the cabin.

Capacity and what fits

35 litres holds a weekend of clothes, a pair of shoes, a toiletry bag and a light jacket, with a recommended load of 4-8 kg. The bag measures 50 x 30 x 23 cm. The arched zip opens wide over the top, so you can see everything without digging.

Carrying

The Duffel 35 has no wheels and does not need them at 520 g. Padded handles carry it like a classic duffel, and the adjustable carrying straps let you shoulder it as a backpack for a walk from the train station or across a long terminal.

Organisation inside

The main compartment opens on a round arch zip with a fixed point for a padlock. A zipped side pocket takes shoes or the day's dirty clothes, an inner mesh pocket holds chargers and passports, and a key clip keeps keys from vanishing to the bottom. The storage sack the bag packs into doubles as a packing cell.

Durability and weight

Made from 600D recycled polyester with 420D recycled polyamide, at 520 g empty. The lightweight body fabric keeps more of your baggage allowance for the things you are taking.

Looking after it

The fabrics are bluepass and Green Button certified, with a finish made without intentionally added PFAS.
