Description
The Deuter Bike Bag 0.8 is a minimalist zipped saddle bag in recycled polyamide: just enough room for a spare tube, a tyre lever, a few notes and your keys, strapped out of the way under the seat. At 65 g it is the kind of bag you fit once and forget is there until the day you flat.
Who it's for
Road, gravel and mountain bike riders who want the puncture kit on the bike rather than in a jersey pocket. Deuter rate it five out of five for touring and four for MTB and road. It is right for a Sunday bunch ride on the Gold Coast hinterland roads, a gravel loop through the Brisbane Valley, or a commute where you want the tube there every day without thinking about it.
Fitting it to your bike
Hook-and-loop straps wrap around the saddle rails and seat post, so it fits without tools or a dedicated mount and swaps between bikes in seconds. Pack it firmly so it does not rattle, and if your seat post is carbon or freshly painted, a strip of protective film where the strap sits keeps the finish looking new.
Capacity and what fits
At 10 x 10 x 18 cm, the Bike Bag 0.8 takes a road or 29er tube, two tyre levers, a CO2 head and cartridge or a mini tool, plus a card and some cash. Packing the tube tightly in a zip-lock bag stops it chafing on the tools.
Weatherproofing
The bag closes with a zip, and the underside facing the rear wheel is made from a durable, washable material that shrugs off road grime and spray. A reflective 3M print faces backwards for visibility in car headlights. The fabric is made without intentionally added PFAS.
Looking after it
Check the straps now and then, and keep sand out of the contact points so they do not dull your paint.
