Description

Maximum performance, minimal size. The compact EVO5 is packed with the right technology to make it simple to use during a search. Both everyday and occasional users will love this device.

The EVO5, the latest arrival in our line of transceivers, capitalizes on ARVA’s 35-year expertise to fit in the palm of your hand. Our R&D team pushed the size/performance ratio past the edge of the envelope to create a device that fits perfectly in your snow pants' pocket. With a 50m search strip width, group check, mark function, and an automatic revert-to-transmit mode, the EVO5 is jam packed with all of the essential functions needed to rescue an avalanche victim. Equipped with a backlit screen and a speaker that emits a precise, modulated beep, this transceiver will efficiently and effectively guide you to the burial zone.

Warning: Holster sold separately

DESIGN AND ERGONOMICS
The design and ergonomics of the device were taken into account from the very beginning of the EVO5's development to make handling simple and intuitive. A 3 position slider, an extra large screen and a central marking button make it easy to operate the device during the search.

EVO5, A MINIATURE DVA
The EVO5 is the smallest DVA ever designed by the ARVA brand. With only 11cm in height and 7cm in width, it is one of the most compact detectors on the market. Its size and lightweight of 170g allow it to be forgotten without neglecting performance in an emergency situation.

DIFFERENT CARRYING OPTIONS
The EVO5 will be delivered with a carrying strap and a leash to allow the camera to slide into a pocket while keeping a solid attachment around the waist. A holster for traditional porting will be available as an option.

50M SEARCH BANDWIDTH
Bandwith corresponds to the size of the area by the searching device. The device’s search area increases as bandwidth increases. This criterion is often used to compare beacon performance.

INTERFERENCE MANAGEMENT
Interference management maximizes the device’s performance in search mode in an environment by electromagnetic interference. To accomplish this, the device in search mode automatically reduces the bandwidth and ignores all other frequencies to focus solely on the beacon being tracked. This function can be deactivated by the user.

AUTOMATIC SWITCH BACK TO EMISSION
During a search, in the event of a secondary avalanche, the return to transmit function allows the device to automatically switch back to transmit mode. This switch is activated either by timer after a certain period of time of user inactivity, or by motion detector after a certain amount of time where the device has not moved.

SMALL BUT POWERFUL
Despite its compact size, the latest addition to the ARVA range offers performance worthy of a great one. 50m of search bandwidth, marking function and interference management for smartphones and other electronic devices are available. The automatic return to emission in the event of an over avalanche also ensures an increased level of safety. The group-check and U-turn indication complete the functionalities to facilitate the use of the device.

FAQ's

How to ensure quick success with an avalanche transceiver?
Carefully read the user’s manual. Familiarize yourself with the use of the ARVA transceiver before you enter the backcountry and practice in the field. Take an avalanche safety course. Do not hesitate to ask a mountain professional or a training center (ENSA, ANENA, CAF, FFME, FFS). Many ski resorts are equipped with an avalanche training park. Ask the local tourist office or ski patrol (training parks are compatible with all the transceivers on the market).

Does the battery power influence the unit performance?
For analog devices, the range is directly linked to battery power. Read the user’s manual carefully. For digital devices, the emitting power level and search range is independent of battery power until a battery reaches below a battery level recommended by the manufacturer. When your batteries reach below the lower limit, your beacon warns you with a visual and sound indication. On all our beacons, we warranty 100% emitting power until your batteries drop below 20%. IMPORTANT: do not use rechargeable batteries, because they have a sudden capacity loss. We recommend alkaline batteries that are provided with the unit (we recommend you carry 4 spare batteries).

Is the indicated number of buried victims reliable?
If there are more than 2 victims, consider that the calculated number of burials displayed is uncertain as long as all the found devices are not switched off. During the search, signals may overlap or some interference may disturb the signals. This is why, the “multiple burials” icon does not appear always immediately. It may even happen that this icon does not appear at all. This is why, you must check the entire avalanche path.

Are all brands of transceivers compatible?
Yes all transceiver devices that operate on a frequency of 457 kHz are compatible.
