Alto Tent Gear Loft

The Sea to Summit Alto Tent Gear Loft is a lightweight polyester mesh gear loft for the Alto TR1 that turns dead space into storage off the tent floor. This is the TR1 size: 100 x 39 cm, 24 g, and it packs down to 23 x 13 x 2.5 cm.

What it does

A one-person tent has no spare floor, so everything ends up under your sleeping bag or in the vestibule. The Gear Loft gives the small things a home: your head torch where you can find it in the dark, a map for the morning, and the fleece and socks you strip off before you zip into your bag on a cold night on the Overland Track.

Which tents it fits

This Gear Loft is the TR1 size, made for Sea to Summit's one-person Alto tents. Sea to Summit lists the Gear Loft as an accessory for both the Alto and the Alto Plus, and each comes in a TR1 one-person model. If you run a two-person Alto TR2, the TR2 loft is the one sized for that inner.

Weight and packed size

At 24 g and 23 x 13 x 2.5 cm packed, the Gear Loft can live permanently in the tent's stuff sack, so it is always there when you pitch.

Looking after it

Empty it before you pack the tent so nothing sharp rubs through the mesh, and let it dry with the inner if you packed up wet.
