Frequently Asked Questions

ABUS rate each lock from 1 to 15 on their own scale, and pair each level with a theft risk. Of our locks, the Steel-O-Chain 9809K is Level 12 for high-risk spots, the Bordo 6000C (Level 10), Yardo 7807F (Level 8) and Infinity Loop 1806 (Level 6) are for medium risk, and the Microflex 6615K and Steel-O-Chain 5805K are Level 5 for low risk.

Only for kids. The ABUS YouDrop FF fits heads of 48 to 55 cm, and its chinguard comes off so it doubles as an open-face trail helmet. We no longer stock the adult AirDrop or HiDrop full-face helmets. For adults we have the ABUS CliffHanger MIPS open-face enduro helmet in Small.

The Steel-O-Chain 9809K. It is 85 cm of 9 mm hardened steel chain with an XPlus key cylinder, rated Level 12 of 15, and ABUS recommend it for good bikes, e-scooters and motorbikes where the risk of theft is high. Lock the frame to a fixed rack, and add a cable lock for the front wheel.

• Folding locks: the Bordo 6000C Combo SH

ABUS bike locks we stock

• Folding locks: the Bordo 6000C Combo SH (90 cm of 5 mm hardened steel bars, Security Level 10, four-digit code, frame carrier) and the Bordo Lite 6055K (60 cm, 400 g, key).

• Chain locks: the Steel-O-Chain 9809K (85 cm of 9 mm chain, Level 12), the Yardo 7807F Fingerprint (7 mm chain, stores up to 20 fingerprints, Level 8, 85 or 110 cm), the Infinity Loop 1806 (Level 6, 110 or 140 cm) and the Steel-O-Chain 5805K (75 cm, Level 5).

• Cable locks: the Microflex 6615K SCMU (85 cm, 15 mm, Level 5) and the Numero 5510C Combo coil cable (180 cm, 508 g). Compare other brands in Bike Locks & Security.

Matching the lock to the risk

Pick the level for where the bike sits and what it is worth. ABUS recommend the Level 12 Steel-O-Chain 9809K for good bikes and e-scooters where theft risk is high: the e-bike outside the office all day or the commuter at the train station. The Bordo 6000C (Level 10), Yardo (Level 8) and Infinity Loop (Level 6) are rated for medium risk. Level 5 locks are for the school rack, a quick stop in sight, or a second lock for the front wheel.

ABUS helmets

We stock the YouDrop FF Kids full-face MTB helmet for heads of 48–55 cm, with a removable chinguard. The GameChanger 2.0 aero road helmet and the CliffHanger MIPS enduro helmet are in Small (51–55 cm) only. See every brand in Bike Helmets.
