At its core is Bell's Spherical Technology powered by Mips — a genuine ball-and-socket construction where the outer liner rotates independently around the inner liner during a crash. This helps redirect rotational forces away from the brain in oblique impacts, the most common type in real-world cycling. It's the same protection architecture used in Bell's flagship Super Air R, and one of the most advanced safety systems available in a cycling helmet today.

The Fidlock magnetic chin buckle is one of those features that sounds minor until you've used it. It snaps effortlessly closed with one hand — a genuine improvement on a cold morning in gloves. The Float Fit system is a lightweight dial retention system integrated directly with the MIPS liner, providing a precisely snug fit without any interference between the two systems. Inside, Ionic+ padding is quick-drying and treated to resist odour-causing bacteria, keeping the helmet fresh through long rides and warm days.

Overbrow Ventilation channels cool air through intake ports on the brow and pushes it through an internal air-channel matrix, delivering airflow across the full head. Despite offering trail-appropriate rear coverage, the XR Spherical breathes like a road lid. At 285g in a medium, it's genuinely light for the level of protection and features on offer.
