Description
XTM Performance Woolxloft men's vest is a puffer vest insulated with 170 g WOOLXLOFT, a fill of 85% coarse wool and 15% polyester. Shell and lining are 100% recycled polyester with a PFAS-free DWR finish. High collar, two zipped hand pockets, two internal dump pockets, adjustable hem and a regular fit, in sizes S to 3XL and two colours: Black and Slate Blue.
Who it's for
The bloke who runs hot on the climb and cold at the top. A vest warms your core and leaves your arms free, which is exactly what you want on a crisp start up Mt Kosciuszko from Thredbo, a winter loop through the Grampians, or splitting wood at a Victorian high country camp. The wool fill keeps its warmth when damp, so sweat on the uphill or a passing shower does not leave you chilled at the lookout.
It works just as well off the trail, over a flannel shirt on a cold Saturday or under a jacket on the way to the footy.
Waterproofing and breathability
The lightweight outer blocks the wind and sheds light rain, with a PFAS-free DWR finish. Wool breathes and wicks, so the vest does not turn clammy when you pick up the pace. When the weather sets in, wear it under your rain jacket as a warm mid layer.
Fit and layering
Regular fit: neither slim nor relaxed, following the shape of the body with ease added for movement. There is room for a fleece or long-sleeve thermal underneath, and no sleeves to bunch up under a shell. XTM's men's chart puts a size M at 99 to 104 cm chest and a size L at 105 to 110 cm chest, measured on the body.
- High collar for added warmth
- YKK Vislon exposed front zip
- Two zipped hand pockets
- Two internal dump pockets for gloves or a beanie
- Adjustable hem to seal out draughts
- Men's sizes S, M, L, XL, 2XL and 3XL
Fabric and construction
WOOLXLOFT is traceable Australian wool insulation, sourced from a farm in Victoria. The vest carries 170 g of it, and at 85% coarse wool to 15% polyester it is a wool-rich blend. Main body and lining are both 100% recycled polyester, and the vest is a certified carbon neutral product.
Packability and weight
Average weight is 410 g. Roll it into the top of your daypack and it is there for the lunch stop, the summit wind or the drop in temperature as the sun goes behind the range.
Care
Machine washable. Do up the zips, wash cold on a delicate cycle and leave out fabric softener and bleach. Line dry it rather than tumble drying, and never iron or dry clean it.
