Description
The Orca Training Backpack is a 30-litre swim and triathlon backpack with waterproof outer fabric and a separate 10-litre waterproof compartment for a wet wetsuit or towel. A U-shaped zip opens the whole back panel so you can reach everything at once, and it measures 32 x 42 x 20 cm.
Who it's for
Swimmers and triathletes who carry a full kit to every session and come home with half of it soaked. Fins, paddles, a pull buoy, goggles, a towel and a change of clothes all go in, then the wet wetsuit or swimmers go into the waterproof compartment on the way out so the rest of the bag stays dry. It suits a squad morning at the pool, an ocean swim off Burleigh, or a ride-and-swim brick where you want both hands free on the way there.
Capacity, and what actually fits
The main compartment holds 30 litres, which is room for fins, a snorkel, paddles and a towel together. The 10-litre waterproof compartment is sized for a wetsuit or a wet towel and swimmers. Interior and exterior pockets of different sizes take the small things, such as your phone and keys, and slightly larger items like toiletries.
How it carries
Soft lower back support, good ergonomics and a breathable back design keep it comfortable on the walk or ride to training, and the outer fabric is waterproof, so a downpour on the way to the pool does not reach your clothes.
Access and organisation
The U-shaped zip runs right around the back panel, so the whole bag opens like a suitcase rather than making you dig from the top. You can lay it open on the pool deck and see every item at once.
Looking after it
Take the wet gear out as soon as you get home and leave the waterproof compartment open to dry. Rinse off salt and chlorine with a damp cloth, then air dry the pack open and out of direct sun.
