Telos Tent Gear Loft

The Sea to Summit Telos Tent Gear Loft is a 15D polyester mesh shelf that clips into the roof of a Telos TR2 or Telos TR3 tent with quick-connect V-Toggles. It holds a head torch, phone, map or the layers you peel off before bed, up off the floor. The TR2 loft weighs 24 g and the TR3 loft 26 g.

What it does

A gear loft turns the empty space under the tent roof into a shelf. In a two-person tent the floor is for sleeping, and every beanie, phone and torch left down there ends up under a hip or lost in a sleeping bag. Hang this Telos tent accessory and those things sit in a mesh hammock above your head, where you can see them and reach them in the dark.

It is at its best at the end of the day: pull off your fleece and socks before you climb into the bag, toss them in the loft, and they are dry, aired and within arm's reach when you wake up on a cold morning in the Snowies. Keep it for light things; it is a mesh shelf, not a hanging bag for boots.

Which tents it fits

There are two sizes, matched to the Sea to Summit Telos tent they are named for. Choose the one for your tent: the two lofts are different shapes.

• TR2: fits the Telos TR2. Flat size 59 x 72 cm, weighs 24 g.
• TR3: fits the Telos TR3. Flat size 85 x 68 cm, weighs 26 g.

The loft attaches with V-Toggles, which push through and lock in seconds, and it comes out just as quickly when you want the full headroom back.

Weight and packed size

At 24 g or 26 g, the Telos Tent Gear Loft adds less weight than a muesli bar. It is made from 15D polyester mesh and packs to 23 x 13 x 2.5 cm, so it can live permanently in the tent's stuff sack.
