Description

The Topeak SmartGauge D2 is a pocket digital pressure gauge for bike tyres, suspension forks and rear shocks. Its SmartHead fits Presta and Schrader valves without swapping parts and rotates through 180 degrees, the LCD reads up to 250 psi (17 bar) in psi, bar or kg/cm², and a bleed button lets you fine-tune pressure.

What it is

A digital gauge that tells you exactly what is in your tyre or shock, so you stop guessing by squeezing the sidewall. Slide the selector to Presta or Schrader, press the SmartHead onto the valve, and the number comes up on the screen. Too much? Tap the air release button and bleed it down a little at a time until the reading lands where you want it.

Who it's for

Riders who care about a few psi. Mountain bikers running low tubeless pressures for grip on the loose, dusty climbs of the Gold Coast hinterland, gravel riders who drop pressure for corrugations, and roadies who want the same number every Sunday morning. With a 250 psi ceiling it also covers air forks and rear shocks, so one gauge sets up the whole bike. Riders on a single bike with a trusted floor pump gauge are already covered; the SmartGauge D2 earns its place once you run tubeless, air suspension or a second bike.

Looking after it

Treat it like the small electronic tool it is. Keep it out of dust and sand, wipe it dry straight away if it gets wet, and clean it without alcohol or thinners. Keep it clear of magnets, do not drop it, and press and hold the power button for three seconds to switch it off after use. When the low battery symbol appears, swap in a fresh CR2032.

FAQ's

Does the Topeak SmartGauge D2 work on Presta and Schrader valves?
Yes. The Topeak SmartGauge D2 has one SmartHead that takes both Presta and Schrader valves. You slide a selector to choose the valve type, so there are no adapters or parts to swap between bikes.

Can I use the Topeak SmartGauge D2 on suspension forks and shocks?
Yes. The Topeak SmartGauge D2 is made for tyres, air suspension forks and rear shocks, and reads up to 250 psi (17 bar), which covers the pressures an air shock runs as well as tyres.

What units does the Topeak SmartGauge D2 display?
The Topeak SmartGauge D2 shows pressure in psi, bar or kg/cm². Press the unit button to switch, handy when your tyre sidewall is printed in one unit and your suspension set-up guide in another.

How do I let air out with the Topeak SmartGauge D2?
The Topeak SmartGauge D2 has an air release button on the head. Press it in short bursts while the gauge is on the valve and watch the reading drop, which is the easy way to hit an exact tubeless pressure.

What battery does the Topeak SmartGauge D2 use?
The Topeak SmartGauge D2 runs on one CR2032 coin cell, and one comes supplied. A low battery symbol appears on the screen when it is time to change it.

Will the Topeak SmartGauge D2 reach a valve beside a disc rotor?
The SmartHead on the Topeak SmartGauge D2 rotates through 180 degrees, so you can angle the body away from spokes and rotors and still press the head straight onto the valve.
