Description
Gear Aid Silicone Lubricant is a 198 g aerosol of silicone spray for wetsuits and dive gear, and a staple of any dive repair and maintenance box. It does two jobs: a light coat makes a snug wetsuit slide on and off without the wrestle, and it keeps the rubber and neoprene on your gear supple while guarding it against the salt, rust, oxidation and corrosion that ocean water brings.
What it fixes
- A wetsuit that fights you on the way in and out
- Rubber gaskets and o-rings on dive gear that are drying out
- Neoprene and rubber that has lost its suppleness
- Metal parts exposed to salt, rust and corrosion
It works on rubber, plastic and metal parts. It is a lubricant and protectant, not a cleaner: rinse salt and sand off first, then protect.
How to use it
- Rinse gear in fresh water and let it dry.
- Spray a light, even coat onto the rubber, neoprene, plastic or metal part.
- Wipe away any excess.
The can is labelled extremely flammable, with contents under pressure. Read the precautions on the back panel before you use it, and store it accordingly. Made in the USA.
Looking after it
Make it part of the post-dive routine for anyone diving the reefs off Queensland or the kelp off Tasmania: rinse, dry, then a light spray on the parts that see salt every trip. We stock it because looking after seals and o-rings costs far less than replacing them.
