Description
The Nemo Satellite Reclining Chair is a packable high-back camp chair for festivals, beaches and long evenings at camp. The Satellite reclines through a system built into the armrests, cradles your neck in a floating padded headrest, and sits on a breathable mesh seat. Its carry case unfolds flat underneath to keep the chair steady on sand and soft ground.
Who it's for
The Satellite is for anyone who wants to sit back and stay a while: a full day at a music festival, sunset on the sand at Burleigh, an outdoor movie night, or the long stretch between dinner and bed at a campground in the Bunya Mountains. If your current camp chair has you perched upright with nowhere to rest your head, this is the upgrade.
Comfort and how it sits
The high back gives full-body support, and the wide padded headrest is the bit you will notice first. It hangs on Nemo's Flex Isolator hub, floating free of the back and seat, so when you shift your weight or twist to talk to someone the fabric does not pull tight at your neck. Settle in and it is easy to nod off.
The recline lives in the armrests. Adjust it and the chair moves between upright for eating or working on a laptop and laid-back for watching the stars. The seat is body-hugging mesh, which breathes on a humid Queensland afternoon, and a crossbar stabilises the backrest.
Packed size and weight
The Satellite breaks down into a compact carry case with an adjustable shoulder strap, so it slings over your shoulder for the walk through the festival gates or down the track to the beach. It is a light, packable chair for the comfort it gives, made for carrying short distances rather than for a multi-day hike.
Stability on soft ground
Here is the clever part. The Platform Pack Sling carry case unfolds flat to pair with the chair as a stabilising platform, adding stability on sand, grass or a soft riverbank. The case you carried it in becomes part of the set-up.
Capacity and build
The frame is shock-corded aluminium poles joined by forged aluminium hubs, with oversized aluminium tubes for stability. Setting it up is intuitive: assemble the shock-corded poles, then the seat's moulded ball-and-socket corners click onto the pole tips and pivot with you so nothing digs in. A built-in mesh cupholder on the side fits a large water bottle within reach.
Looking after it
Shake sand out of the seat and case before packing, and let the chair dry before storing it if it has been out in the dew or rain. Rinse off salt after a beach day so the aluminium and the corner hubs stay smooth.
