Description
The Sea to Summit Frontier UL Cutlery Set is camp cutlery in hard-anodised aircraft-grade aluminium, light enough to vanish into a hip-belt pocket and stiff enough to cut and scoop a real dinner. Choose the set that matches how you eat on the track.
Who it's for
Hikers, bikepackers and paddlers who count grams but still want to eat with proper tools. Three sets, three ways of eating:
- Spork and Knife (18.8 g, with mini carabiner): the minimalist's pair. One tool to scoop and spear, one to cut. Packs to 16.8 x 3.9 x 1.8 cm.
- Long Handle Spoon and Spork (31.5 g, with tongs adaptor): long enough to reach the bottom of a freeze-dried meal pouch without getting food on your knuckles, and clipped together with the adaptor they become tongs for serving pasta or turning food in a pan. Packs to 21 x 4.1 x 1.7 cm.
- Knife, Fork and Spoon (26.2 g, with mini carabiner): a full place setting for the walker who likes to sit down to dinner. Packs to 16.8 x 4.2 x 2.1 cm.
On a week along the Overland Track or a bikepacking loop through the Victorian high country, the long-handled pair suits pouch meals, and the three-piece suits anyone cooking from scratch in a pot.
Materials and heat
Every piece is hard-anodised aircraft-grade aluminium, 97% aluminium and 3% 304 stainless steel by weight across each set. The anodised finish is hard-wearing and easy to clean. The spoon and spork bowls and the fork tines are semi-polished, so they feel smooth in the mouth, and the spoons and sporks follow the curve of Sea to Summit Frontier bowls to scrape up the last mouthful. Everything is BPA-free and non-PFAS.
The handles have a ribbed profile with cut-outs, a shape that adds strength while keeping the weight down.
Packing and nesting
The handle profile also lets the pieces stack neatly on top of one another. The Spork and Knife and the three-piece sets come with a mini carabiner that clips the stack together, so the whole set hangs off a pack strap or sits in a cook pot without scattering. The long-handled pair clips together with its adaptor. Frontier pieces from different sets stack with each other too.
Cleaning
Rinse and wipe at camp, and wash by hand at home. Keep Frontier cutlery out of the dishwasher: the detergent strips the anodised finish.
