The Trail is the pole we hand to people buying their first proper pair, and it is still the pole plenty of experienced walkers come back to. Everything on it is the sensible option: aluminium shaft, external lever locks, foam grip, baskets in the box.

Foam grips and wet weather

EVA foam keeps working when it is soaked. On a rainforest walk with rain coming through the canopy all afternoon, foam stays grippy while a smooth grip goes slippery. It is also the lighter of the two grip materials.

Dual FlickLocks

Two external lever clamps, one on each joint. You see them close, you work them in gloves, and you tighten them with a screwdriver when they wear in years down the track. Simple, visible and repairable.

The strap does more than you think

The Variwidth strap is partially recycled and shaped wider where it takes load. Used properly - hand up through the loop, then down onto the grip - the strap carries the push and your hand just steers. That is what stops your forearms burning out on a long descent.
