Description
The Sea to Summit Passage Cutlery Set is lightweight camp cutlery in food-grade glass-reinforced polypropylene. The 2 Piece is a knife and spork weighing 16 g; the 3 Piece is a knife, fork and spoon weighing 24.2 g. The handles snap together to pack, or join end to end to make a long-handled spork for eating from a pouch.
Who it's for
Bushwalkers, bikepackers and campers who want cutlery that feels like cutlery but packs like a pencil case. Take the 2 Piece if you live on one-pot dinners and freeze-dried meals; take the 3 Piece if camp meals mean a proper plate of food, or if you are packing for two and like a spoon for the porridge.
- 2 Piece: knife and spork, 16 g, packs to 15.8 x 3.5 x 1.4 cm. Arrowwood, Spicy Orange or Aqua Sea.
- 3 Piece: knife, fork and spoon, 24.2 g, packs to 15.8 x 4 x 1.3 cm. Arrowwood, Spicy Orange or Aqua Sea.
Clip together, eat from the bag
Every Passage handle has a slot that locks onto another. Stack them and they snap into one flat bundle that will not rattle around the food bag. Turn two pieces to face opposite ways and they join into a long utensil: a long spork from the 2 Piece, or a long spoon or fork from the 3 Piece. That extra reach gets you to the bottom of a dehydrated meal pouch without a sticky hand.
The knife has a serrated edge that cuts salami and cheese and a blade broad enough to spread peanut butter on a wrap.
Materials and heat
Passage cutlery is glass-reinforced polypropylene, food grade to European and Japanese standards and BPA-free. The glass reinforcement makes it stiff and strong for its weight, so it digs through a thick risotto without bending. It is also fine in the microwave at home.
Packing and nesting
Passage cutlery is sized to sit inside Sea to Summit Frontier cookware, so the set disappears into the pot with the stove and gas.
Cleaning
Both sets go in the dishwasher. At camp a rinse in hot water does the job, and the smooth surface lets food slide off.
