It strips out weight, wraps the harness around you like a running vest, and puts water, snacks and poles where you can reach them without breaking stride.

Who it's for

Women who move fast in the hills: a one-day push along the Six Foot Track, or summit-and-back missions on the Main Range. The mesh front pocket swallows a wet jacket and the mesh side pockets take extra bottles. Wide, perforated vest-style shoulder straps breathe on hot climbs, and supple hip fins and a lightly elasticated sternum strap keep everything snug. Stabiliser straps fine-tune the fit.

Fitting it

SL is Deuter's women's fit: a shorter back of 38-48 cm and a harness shaped for the female body, for walkers about 158-178 cm tall.
